Registration for 4th Annual Forum Now Open

We are very excited to announce that registration for the 4th Annual Forum for Open Research is now open!

This year, we are again offering the option of both online attendance and in person attendance for our delegates and presenters. And to ensure the event is truly accessible, online attendance will be free (though we hope lots of you will still join us in person!)

Following the success of last year’s workshops for in person delegates, we are going to make sure there are more excellent and practical workshops this year (details about the workshop topics and timings will be available on our Programme pages shortly). However, we recognize that many researchers, administrators, and professionals might be interested in the workshops, but be unable to attend the whole conference. Therefore, we are offering the option to register to attend the workshops as a stand-alone option, as well as including workshops within the main conference registration fee. So, if you think you might be interested in building a university focused on long term research impact, in improving your librarian negotiation skills when contracting with publishers, or learning about open AI development – but don’t have time to attend the whole conference – do consider joining us for a morning of high-impact interactive workshops on the 23rd of October.

Finally, this year we have decided to plant a tree for each of our speakers as a gesture of thanks. As we are based in the UAE, we will be planting a Mangrove tree in recognition of the contributions each of our speakers. As a symbol of sustainability and environmental responsibility, mangroves play a vital role in the UAE’s ecological landscape. They protect coastlines, support marine biodiversity, and capture significant amounts of carbon dioxide—contributing directly to the nation’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy. Speakers and delegates can join us and enjoy a visit to Al Zorah Nature Reserve, learn about  trees themselves as well as the entire ecosystem and how it benefits the UAE, and take a Kayak or Dragon boat trip out to mangroves, before planting their tree.

We hope you will join us at the 4th Annual Forum, to discuss building capacities and communities to support the Arab world’s open science activities!
