Registration for the 4th Annual Forum for Open Research in MENA is now open. There are some changes to this year’s options and processes, so please do read the below content carefully and make sure you select the right ticket options.
Duration: 4 days
American University of Sharjah
This year, we are again offering the option of both online attendance and in person attendance for our delegates. To maximise accessibility, online attendance will be free. And we are subsidising in person attendance, to ensure it remains as affordable as possible for all delegates who wish to join us at AUS – and there will be an Early Bird Discount available until the end of August. There are a range of in person attendance options (Speaker, Member, Student, Standard Delegate, and Corporate Representative) so please do make sure you select the right option.
This year we are offering 4 excellent workshops on the final day of the conference, providing valuable insights from global experts (details about the workshop topics and timings will be available on our Programme pages shortly). These workshops are included in the conference registration fee, and will take place in parallel sessions from 9am until 1.30pm on 23rd October, at AUS.
However, we recognise that many researchers, administrators, and professionals might be interested in the workshops, but be unable to attend the whole conference. Therefore, we are offering the option to register to attend the workshops as a stand-alone option. The 4 workshops will be organised in parallel sessions, so you will be able to attend up to 2 workshops. The Workshop-Only option is priced at $75.
This year, we have decided to plant a tree for each of our speakers instead of giving a plaque. As we are based in the UAE, we will be planting a Mangrove tree in recognition of the contributions each of our speakers. As a symbol of sustainability and environmental responsibility, mangroves play a vital role in the UAE’s ecological landscape. They protect coastlines, support marine biodiversity, and capture significant amounts of carbon dioxide—contributing directly to the nation’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy The planting will take place in Al Zorah Nature Reserve. Speakers and delegates can join us and enjoy a visit to Al Zorah Nature Reserve, learn about trees themselves as well as the entire ecosystem and how it benefits the UAE, and take a Kayak or Dragon boat trip out to mangroves, before planting their tree.
There is no charge for Speakers to plant their own tree, however if other delegates wish to join us and visit the beautiful Mangrove forests, there will be a supplemental fee of $80 to cover the cost of transportation and the activity. The tree planting will take place from 2.30 till early evening on the 23rd of October, the exact time will be determined in October as access to the Mangroves depends on the position of the tide.
*Certificates of attendance will be provided to delegates who attend the majority of the event.
If you are unable to attend the conference, you may nominate a delegate to come in your place at no additional charge. If you wish to change the attendee, please inform us of your decision at contact@forumforopen.org, along with the new delegate’s name, professional affiliation, and email. Kindly share this information before the 15th of October 2024.
Cancellation more than 30 days before the event results in a 50% refund on the registration fee.
Cancellation less than 30 days before the event will result in no refund. In the case of extenuating circumstances, refund requests after this deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Organising Committee.
A refund will not be provided in the event of a ‘no-show.’
The cancellation policy holds in all instances apart from force majeure where the event is cancelled for reasons of war, government regulations, disaster, strikes, civil disorder, curtailment of transportation facilities or other emergencies, making it impossible to hold the event in the UAE or online.
