Prof. Dr. Mohamad Sanad Abu-Darwish

Director of Science and Scientific Research at the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).

Short Biography

Prof. Dr. Mohamad Sanad Abu-Darwish is a professor of pharmaceutical sciences and currently the Director of Science and Scientific Research at the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in Tunisia. A professor of pharmaceutical sciences, he previously served as the president of Aqaba University of Technology (AUT) in Jordan from 2019 to 2022. Prior to this, he was the dean of a university college at Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan, and has also held visiting professor positions at Johannes Gutenberg University in Germany and the University of Mississippi, USA, supported by a Fulbright scholarship. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Academic Award from the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development in Kuwait. Widely published, accruing over 2,000 citations and an h-index of 23, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Sanad Abu-Darwish serves on the editorial boards of multiple scientific journals and is a member of various national and international scientific organizations, including serving as the founder and chair of the Society of the Medical Heritage in Jordan.

Dr. Nahed Salem

Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC)

Short Biography

Nahed Salem is the Project Manager of the Arab Research and Innovation Co-funded Alliances (ARICA), led by the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC). She currently serves as Deputy Director at the Egyptian Science, Technology and Innovation Observatory (ESTIO) within the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Egypt. With extensive experience in the field of science, technology, and innovation (STI), she specializes in the design and analysis of STI indicators, survey development, and both quantitative and qualitative analysis. She previously managed the joint project “Mobilizing the Egyptian Innovation System for SMEs’ Innovation Capabilities,” funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research. Her work also includes monitoring and evaluating the performance of universities and research institutions, as well as contributing to Egypt’s community innovation survey covering 4,000 SMEs. Additionally, she is a member of the national committee dedicated to improving Egypt’s ranking in international indices such as the Global Innovation Index (GII) and the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI).
