Announcing the Agenda for the 5th Annual Forum for Open Research

We are delighted to announce the Agenda is now confirmed for the 5th Annual Forum for Open Research, taking place from the 19th to 21st of October 2026.

This year’s Annual Forum, Resilience in Research: The Role of Open Science in the Arab World, explores the importance of open science policies and practises for countries facing challenging circumstances, with a particular emphasis on human-made crises. We have convened a number of panels to explore and discuss what resilience and autonomy mean in the open science movement during human made crises, the challenges of maintaining open policies and practices during times of crisis and the challenges associated with recovery and reconstruction. It will also address the value of open science activities and outputs during these periods of upheaval and aftermath, the benefits provided by transparency, visibility, credibility, and accessibility.

The Agenda this year offers a combination of special plenary sessions from key leadership figures and stakeholder groups, parallel sessions presenting case studies from researchers, librarians, universities and policymakers from across the Arab world, and dedicated roundtables convened to address key issues faced by our community.
